Pequeños cambios culturales / Small Cultural changes

Han pasado 2 días y medio desde que llegué y el jet lag sigue haciendo de las suyas sobre mi organismo, si todo sale bien, ya hoy duermo como se debe (de noche jaja), espero que para mañana se quite. Esta vez voy a escribir sobre esas pequeñas diferencias que he encontrado en este país con lo que estaba acostumbrado:

• Sigo impactado del arroz, hoy descubrí que tienen McRice Burgers en McDonalds, no es que las hagan de arroz en vez de carne, sino el PAN es de arroz, es una BigMac normal o una McRice BigMac (ver foto de jeepney). Como imaginar una comida filipina sin arroz??, IMPOSIBLE. Llevo 2 días aquí y me han ofrecido arroz en todas y cada una de las comidas que he hecho. Siguiendo con McDonalds, tienen servicio a domicilio, pero no marcas un número, mandas un mensaje a 8MCDON (862366) con tu orden y dirección, el celular lo manda al McDonalds más cercano y te llega en 30 minutos. AWESOME.
• Cuando pagas con tarjeta, uno generalmente firma un recibo y se queda el otro, aquí hay 3, y te hacen firmar los 3 y te devuelven uno, 1 para el banco y el otro para el local. Raro no?? Jaja.
• Jeepneys, (luego dedicaré un post a estos singulares medios de transporte, de mientras vean unas fotos, ja ja)
• Los Camiones son una cosa impactante, se auto-promocionan con los amenities con los que cuentan, es decir, si tienen Aire Acondicionado y Video lo ponen en vez de la ruta (eso es secundario, todos los caminos llevan a Roma no?? ) además si eso fuera poco, cuando llega el camión en vez de hacer la parada normal, se acerca y la gente se amontona para subirse primero MIENTRAS EL CAMION SE MUEVE pues a veces no se paran, mañana trataré de tomar video y lo publico.
• El turno laboral de una oficina “off shore” asiática es de 11 am a 10 pm pues hay que sincronizarse con el tiempo de USA (claro, entre eso y la cosa del VOLTAJE que nadie le dice a uno, pues se lleva esas sorpresitas); así que trabajaré en esas horas a partir de hoy, ni modo.

There have been 2 days since I arrived and the jet lag is still causing some issues in my body, if everything goes fine, today I will sleep normal (in the night ha ha), hopefully tomorrow it will disappear. This time I will write about those small differences that I’ve found in this country compared with what we are used to.

• I’m still in shock with the “rice” issue here, today I discovered the McRice burgers @ McDonalds, this doesn’t mean that there are rice burgers instead of meat, but the bread is with rice, can you imagine a Philippine meal without rice?? ( NO way, I have been offered rice in every single meal I’ve had in this country (see jeepney picture). McDonalds doesn’t stop there, if you send a SMS to 8MCDON (862366), with your order and address, they have delivery and they send your burgers, the cell company sends the SMS to the nearest McDonalds. AWESOME
• When you pay with debit / credit card, usually one signs 1 receipt and keeps the other one, here they make you sign 3, 1 for you, 1 for the bank and 1 for the merchant, strange don’t you think?
• Jeepneys, (I’ll make a post on these ones later, in the meanwhile see the pics ha ha)
• The buses are an shocking, they promote themselves with the amenities they have inside, instead of post the route in the outside, it says if it has Video or AC inside (route is secondary, all the ways lead to Rome, don’t you think?) but the story doesn’t finish here, when the bus arrives the crowds run after it because IT DOESN’T STOP, ha ha, I’ll try to shoot video tomorrow and I’ll publish it here.
• The shift when you work a project in an “off shore” company is according to US times, so here they work from 11 am to 10 pm, I’ll be working that shiftstarting today
